Overview

The Dedication plaque for the Metz Carillon

Indiana University is home to this 61 bell carillon housed in a campanile (tower) near the intersection of 17th Street and Jordan Avenue. The instrument is maintained by the Jacobs School of Music, but is rarely played.

Named for alumnus Arthur R. Metz (1887 - 1963), class of 1909, the carillon was presented to the University in 1970 by the Arthur R. Metz Fountation.

The tower and instrument room are built upon the highest point of the Indiana University campus.
