This article documents some of the effects of the well known September 11th, 2001 on Bloomington. it also documents Bloomington people who were directly affected.

  • On the day of the attack, people downtown freaked out when a regular fire alarm occured downtown. About 20 or so people came outside to investigate what was otherwise a normal fire run for the Bloomington Fire Department.
  • The Herald Times published a special 4pm edition documenting the events of the day.
  • Indiana University canceled classes on the following Friday to allow people to attend a vigil.

People Involved

The following people who are from or lived in Bloomington were directly affected by the attacks

  • Andrew Stoeckley - Worked on the 42nd floor of tower 2. Fortunately, he happened to take a sick day on Sept. 11th.
