4th Street Post Office

The Post Office on 4th Street formerly served the downtown area and west side mostly. The land that the building and parking lots sit on is actually owned by the First Methodist Church right across the street. This post office will closed permanently in 2011, and it was replaced as the main post office by the building that was formerly the Ponderosa restaurant on South Walnut Street.

Also known as the Downtown Post Office, is is the mail hub for the local zip codes; 47401, 47402, 47403, 47404, 47405, 47406, 47407, and 47408. Passport service is only available at the Downtown Post Office.

  • Monday - Friday: 8am - 7pm
  • Saturday: 8am - 2pm

Note: The last mail pickup for they day is BEFORE the closing time of the post office. It is 5:30 pm M-F and 5 pm Sa. The last pickup in the region appears to be at the Bloomington mail processing annex on Vernal Pike at 6pm.
