Daniel Biss is a famous young mathematican who currently holds a position as Professor of Mathematics at the University of Chicago. Biss did his undergraduate work at Harvard University then his doctorate in mathematics at M.I.T. Biss is well-known for showing that the tangent bundle of a smooth manifold can be encapsulated in the combinatorial language of oriented matroids.
