Modesto is located in Washington Township in north central Monroe County. Modesto is bordered on the east by Wayport and on the west by Beanblossom Creek. Nearby points of interest include Oliver Winery and restored wetlands which are supported by Sycamore Land Trust, US Fish and Wildlife and other organizations.

History

Modesto is, in fact, named after Modesto, California. The postmaster received a letter from his cousin in Modesto, California- this sparked a decision to call the post office The Modesto Post Office.
