Natalie Avon was born in Southern Minnesota, where her father was a peach farmer and her mother was a taxi cab driver. Her life story was actually the inspiration for the Cohen Bros. 1996 film "Fargo."

After turning down the chance to go pro in the ice-skating arena, she stopped hanging out with her then-friend Tara Lapinski. She picked up her first pen and notepad when she turned 14, after reading "Hop on Pop."

With that experience and a small but terrific dream, Natalie set to work at the Indiana Daily Student at Indiana University as an opinion columnist. She is currently a Design Director for the IDS.
