Orchard House Building

From Bloomingpedia
(Redirected from Orchard House)

The Orchard House was temperance inn in Bloomington, located on Gentry Place opposite the train station of the Louisville, New Albany and Chicago Railroad (later known as the Monon). It was located where the 1914 Benckart Bakery addition now stands, dubbed the 'Gentry Building' by the current owners. The inn was destroyed by fire on November 6, 1888. The hotel was a total loss, estimated at $8,000. The proprietors had no insurance and the inn was not rebuilt.
