Stages Bloomington
From Bloomingpedia
Stages Bloomington is a non-profit youth theatre company. Created in 2005, they have done many things in many places. Starting with a Christmas pre-show to Amahl and the Night Visitors, the company has taken off. Each spring they put on two full-length musicals, one with kids in grades 1-4 and the other with kids in grades 5-8. They have performed Beauty and the Beast, Honk!, The Pied Piper, The Magical Land of Oz, and The Music Man.
Summer Camp
Stages Bloomington also offers a two-week summer camp, which culminates with a musical review. The camp consists of classes that get you ready for the show and master classes. The master classes cover a variety of performing arts subjects, such as costume design, auditioning, ballroom dancing, and digital portfolios- just to name a few. They often bring in theatre proffesionals from Indiana University and other places to teach them. The summer camp is open to kids in grades 1-12.
Classes
Last year, Stages Bloomington added fall classes, teaching dancing, singing, and acting. You can also choose to take "Performing Arts Extras", which include hip-hop, tap, and monologues technique. The fall classes are open to kids in grades 1-12. In addition to all these, Stages goes out in the community as well. Some "Stages kid" have performed at Tutto Bene numerous times, including a yearly fundraiser for Casa. They have also performed at Jazz at the Station and Meadowood Retirement Community.
