Picnic with the POPS
The annual picnic takes place around July 4th and has a patriotic theme. Usually attracting thousands of people, gates open around 5PM and there are children's games and fair-style food available until the official beginning of the concert at 8PM. Traditional pieces include singalongs of patriotic songs, the four military anthems, and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, which is accompanied by live cannon provided by the local National Guard unit. Fireworks follow the performance.
