The S. S. Kresge Company was a national chain of five and dime stores, of which there was one in Bloomington located at 101 N College Ave, in the building where Talbots and a few other stores and offices reside now. It was started by Sebastian Spering Kresge, who later turned these stores into K-Mart discount stores.
