William Fulwider

William A. Fulwider was a late 19th Century Bloomington businessman.

Fulwider was born in Virginia to John and Lucinda Fulwider. He was the founder of the Fulwider Lumber Company, a sawmill and lumber yard, and later assisted in organizing the Monroe County Bank.

He served three years and eight months for the Union in the Civil War.

On Sept. 15, 1866 he married the former Sarah L. Alvis, and they had three children: Oscar M., Ida May, and Jesse U.

He was also named president of Monroe Bank.

His descendant, Edwin Fulwider, was a Bloomington artist.
