Robert Gates named Secretary of Defense

President George W. Bush names Indiana University alumnus Robert Gates as the Secretary of Defense on November 8th, 2006 after it is announced that Donald Rumsfeld will be resigning at the end of the year. Gates attended IU in the late 1960s while earning a master's degree in Russian history.
