Washington Street

From Bloomingpedia

Washington Street is a mostly one way street running north/south through Bloomington. It exists in three unconnected segements. One starts at the western end of 20th Street and ends in a dead end south of 19th Street. The second spur begins at 17th Street and ends at 14th Street. The third segment begins at 12th Street and travels south for just over 1.5 miles until it stops at Hillside Drive. This southern spur has a bike lane and its gentle downhill slope makes it an ideal choice for travelling south by bicycle from Second Street to Grimes Lane. It goes past Third Street Park.

The part of the street between Tenth and Eighth Streets has been named a historic district, the North Washington Street Historic District. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
