January
February
- 9th - The Tourner Hotel opens on the northeast corner of College Avenue and 4th Street. Proprietor J. P. Tourner built the hotel at cost of more than $27,000. It had nearly 70 rooms and attached bathrooms, along with a dining room at reception room.
- Two fires within a week cripple the Peoples' Company and City Water Works in the Allen Louden Block on the southwest corner of The Square.
March
- George Holsapple sells his eighty-acre farm four miles north of town to George Whisnand for $2,325.
- George Bollenbacher buys a house on east 3rd Street from Jennie Alexander. He planned to have the house moved to the east side of the lot and build a storehouse on the west side.
- School superintendent James K. Beck resigns his position after 30 years in the school system.
April
- 11th - Disbarment proceedings are filed against former mayor A. M. Hadley. He is accused of several instances of bribe-taking.
- W. J. Allen Hardware is sold to Frank Rose and S. B. Van Valzah.
- Melvin Faris, manager of the Bloomington Creamery, buys out the stock of S. S. Smith, Harvey Smith, T. L. Faris and Samuel T. Smith, and becomes the sole owner.

June
Plans are announced for the Bloomington depot of the Indianapolis Southern Railroad, a stone building at 13th Street and College Avenue. The Kirkwood Miers House was not planned to be moved. Two lines of track would pass the depot running from the city corporation line on the east to the Y on the west at the Monon crossing. At Walnut Street was planned an overhead bridge 27 feet high and at College Avenue a bridge 18 feet high.
