Andrea Fiedler-Augustine (b.1978-present, maiden name Andrea White), is a working musician as a singer songwriter, fiddle player, and guitar player. A native of Cape Cod, MA, she moved to Bloomington in 1996, where she currently resides with her two children.

Andrea has played violin since she was a young child, and began official study on Cape Cod at the Cape Cod Conservatory as a first grader. At the age of 10 she continued study at Boston's New England Conservatory of Music, under the private direction of Magdalena Richter and Eric Rosenblith. Andrea appeared in mid-1988 as a featured violin soloist in the performance of the Bach Double Violin concerto with the Cape Cod Symphony under Maestro Royston Nash.

During High School (Barnstable High school Graduate 1996), she was a member of many chamber ensembles and orchestras including the Cape Cod Symphony (Maestro: Royston Nash). She also attended school at New England Conservatory on Huntington Ave. in Boston, MA where she was a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra (Maestro: Aaron Kula) , the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (Maestro: Benjamin Zander), and participated in the '95 summer tour Of South America with YPO which included Argentina and Chile. Other international study/performance includes the Dartington International Summer School, in the UK during the summer of 1994. She began playing guitar and singing shortly after leaving college.

Andrea became a Violin Performance major at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the private direction of Mauricio Fuks and, later, Mimi Zweig, from 1996 to 1999. During that departure, she branched out and wrote music as well as improvised with local artists such as Craig Brenner, David Wierhake, Gordon Bonham, Brian Lapin, and, more recently, Bobbie Lancaster and Suzette Weakley (both of Stella & Jane with Jeff Foster).

Writing

Andrea began writing a column for Intrepid Media as of 2008. Her first column appeared on March 17.

Ensembles

Andrea has worked with numerous bands, including Red Eye Max, Stella & Jane (www.stellaandjane.com), Craig and the Crawdads (www.craigbrener.com), Jeff Stevens and Dale Baker from Mitchell and Paoli, respectively, and Ugly Early (www.uglyearly.com). Her most current project is playing with Suzette Weakley and Jeff Foster in The Lazy Saints. No recording as of yet.

Musical Influences

Andrea's influences are wide and varying and include Zydeco, Boogie Woogie, Blues, Country, Rock, Americana, Funk, and Bluegrass. Andrea has appeared as a guest artist with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Dr. Bone (Andy Galbiati of "Dr. Bone and the Hepcats"), The Headliners, the Dynamics, Shoes and Strings, Dennis Riggins, Code Blue featuring Bobbie Lancaster, and many others. She has shared the bill with Henry Butler, Big Joe Duskin, Bob Seeley, and other fine Boogie Woogie piano players at the 2005 Cincy Blues Fest where she performed with Craig Brenner and Lori Wallace, and they had the privilege of sharing the stage with New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich. Currently as of 2010, Andrea has joined forces with Suzette Weakley and Jeff Foster as a member of "The Lazy Saints". When Suzette and Andrea play together as a duo, they use the name "Wildflower"

Already a versatile artist, Andrea hopes to grow as a songwriter, improvisational artist, and performer. She is currently in the studio - and soon can be seen onstage - with Red Eye Max, as well as working with Mother Grove and the Double-E band with Steev Wisher, Dale Gardner, Phil Starkey, and Kenny Wright.
